Finally... Gourmet Mall opens
chandigarh: it's a five-year-old project and a dream come true for me, says harmohan dhawan, as his multi cuisine food complex, gourmet mall, opened its doors to the city on thursday. though it's a month behind schedule, the delay has probably been worth it. for, not only can consumers expect a clinical level of hygiene, but also an all-in-one complex where bakery products, ice creams, shakes, pizzas, burgers, chinese, indian, italian cuisine will all be available under one roof, and that too in sector 17. but the most attractive part of the mall is its pricing. sample this: there are 12 salads on offer (chicken coleslaw hawaiian, herbal chickpeas with pita bread, etc) with vegetarian ones at rs 40 and non-veg ones at rs 55. continental dishes (gateaux des fromage, frilled fish with lemon butter) are between rs 89-rs 99. pastas are between rs 69-89 and a live pasta station where a chef will customize your pasta is placed near the salad tray and soup trolley. soups are for rs 25-rs 30. mexican cuisine offers enchiladas, chimichangas, tacos etc and the pricing is between rs 89-rs 99. chinese dishes are priced between rs 39-rs 69. there are combination meals for adults and kids comprising a burger, fries and a cold drink -priced between rs 45-rs 69. all the above is available at the self-help mr burger on the first floor. the terrace garden has the indian fare, which will be served to you. this area will be known as dhaba. the ground floor has the baker's hut where you can check out how bread is made, from the kneading to the baking. the ice cream corner, italica, has ice creams, sundaes, shakes, desserts and lots more to offer. prices once again are reasonable. what remains to be seen is if the quality promised and the rates can be maintained. says dhawan confidently, we are working on high volumes and low costs. considering that this is the man behind mehfil (which is now 22 years old), this promise is one that should be fulfilled. geetika_bhandari@indiatimes.com
